Our History

DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe is a division of DENTSPLY International, a worldwide leader in dental and orthodontic products. DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe was formed in 2005 through the acquisition of Raintree Essix (an orthodontic specialties provider located in Metarie, LA) and Glenroe Technologies (a dental plastics manufacturer located in Bradenton, FL). Together, they bring decades of orthodontic plastics expertise to the market.

In 1994, Raintree Essix introduced Essix A+® Plastic, one of the first commercially-viable thermoforming plastics for the dental and orthodontic markets. Since then, Raintree Essix has continued to innovate, with over a dozen types of thermoforming plastics for various dental/orthodontic applications now offered. Products include Essix ACE®, Essix C+® and Essix A+® Plastics, industry leaders that are widely used for aligner and retainer fabrication. In 2000, Raintree Essix introduced the Hilliard Thermoplier® Pliers along with the MTM® (Minor Tooth Movement) System. The MTM® technique utilizes Essix® Brand Plastics¹ and the Hilliard Thermoplier® Pliers to fabricate clear plastic aligners that move teeth with integrated "force points". This versatile technique is used by clinicians nationwide as a standalone esthetic treatment, for mid-course correction or refinement of orthodontic cases, and in preparation for other cosmetic or therapeutic procedures.

Glenroe manufactures stock and custom OEM products for the worldwide orthodontic and general dental markets, offering expertise in plastic injection molding, extrusion/co-extrusion and high speed cutting. Glenroe also serves as a manufacturing “Center of Expertise,” providing manufacturing services for other DENTSPLY divisions.

In 2012, DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe announced its plans to centralize and expand its current operational footprint and capabilities within Manatee County, FL. The new facility features over 100,000 square feet of R&D, quality assurance and manufacturing space. With this expansion, DENTSPLY Raintree Essix Glenroe is better equipped than ever to meet demand for its products and continue growth into the future.
